About Us:
Scott and Kim Chafee served as missionaries in Zambia from 1993-1999 and it was a life-changing experience. Once someone even visits Zambia it gets into your blood, and we’re talking about more than just malaria!
We were assigned to Kitwe in 1993-1995, serving as missionaries to the Copperbelt University. Work was going well, preaching in the rural areas, working with other Zambia missionaries and many wonderful local Zambian leaders, building a campus ministry, we even saw the beginnings of the University Baptist Church… then after a medical transfer, we moved to Lusaka where Scott became the mission treasurer and instructor at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia. Scott taught biblical studies and pastoral ministries courses, and was director of Theological Field Education. Kim was public relations director for the mission, and a trustee of the seminary, teaching ESL and directing the music program. We were active members at Twin Palm Baptist Church, meeting in the seminary chapel.
Our second term brought changes, Scott was full-time at the seminary, and the IMB began changes in their strategic directives. We soon left the field and began work at the IMB home office in January 1999. Scott was a missionary candidate consultant working with the International Service Corps and Journeyman mobilization team; primarily working with Journeyman candidates. While in Richmond, VA, Kim went on to earn her Master of Divinity degree from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
After graduation, we joined the staff at Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham VA; Kim was Pastor of Music and Worship while Scott was Pastor of Missions and Discipleship. Scott also taught Apologetics and Bible Survey at Hargrave Military Academy. Kim also taught Band at Woodlawn Academy and directed the Hargrave Chapel Chorus.
Currently Scott serves on staff at King’s Grant Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. It’s like coming back home; working with a great staff and wonderful church members.
